I have really been enjoying Beta testing, and trying out the new AI tools available to artists and designers in the past twenty-odd months.
I love that it’s Open Sourced Based, so everyone can learn from each other.
There are so many tools available today, then just 3 years ago! And then 15 years ago, then 25 years ago! I am lucky to see new tools for artists update from Exacto knives, to Adobe, to AI. The pencil can’t work without the artists input though.
So as I continue trying to educate myself in these times that are changing. I found an interesting group that expands album covers beyond the 12” LP.
Of course, I had to try my hand at this fun challenge!
When I was a young lad taking my older brother’s Van Halen and AC/DC albums to school, a friend shared with me Iron Maiden’s “Piece of Mind” and they became MY band. Their first few singles that were released, the artist Derek Riggs had an eerie amber aesthetic to his creations. I always thought there was a story in them.
I tried putting together a good composition of their mascot “Eddie” transitioning from one scene to the other on the albums and singles. Like a punk rock rapscalion pillaging the British working districts.
You do know it’s not just click a button and it “enhances” like in CSI. There are numerous revisions and adjustments within each aspect of the process…
I started with the base image of the album artwork layout, and when I would get to good saving point I would save it, and then start a new file with the next batch of generations. And then get about 20 or so generations in, and save and start new.
Overall it took me all freaking day, we still haven’t gotten to the enhance aspect of computers.
…just yet
I really enjoyed how it turned out!
Thank you Derek Riggs for providing such imaginative artwork that percolated in my juvenile mind!
Stay Awesome, and Keep Creating!
-Russ!
